Parenting Coach

Empowering parents; increase your effectiveness in parenthood and bring awareness, insight and understanding in your parenting methods so you can handle all the challenges that parenthood throws at you.

Moving abroad is an exciting time, giving you the opportunity to explore new countries and customs. But it also means leaving behind your home, your relatives, friends and possibly your career.

Life is full of choices and you have made the decision to move abroad as a family. As much as you support the decision, as an expatriate spouse you’ll come across challenges that can leave you feeling overwhelmed.

You might feel alone, home sick, insecure and if you had to leave your job behind you might feel resentful towards your husband. Your spouse works long hours and you are left alone most of the time. It’s up to you to build a new social network, find your way around and look into housing and schools for the children.

Relationship problems, mood swings, stress and anxiety, depression, loneliness, parenting issues, to name a few, are therefore very common amongst trailing spouses. It is common knowledge that a good functioning and happy family is of great value to everyone involved. When the working partner knows the family is settling in well and happy in their new home, it is one thing less to worry about and he can focus on his new job.

It is important to take care of yourself and address your own needs. Only then will you be able to be there for your husband and children. We offer support for the expatriate spouses to help prevent these problems, or help them overcome their struggles.

I grew up abroad and was a trailing spouse myself so I am familiar with the consequences and challenges that come with expatriation.
